Tears, cheers and revelations — that’s what happens when you honor Beyonce and JAY-Z at the GLAAD Media Awards.
Bey and Jay received the Vanguard Award at the 30th annual celebration and took time during their acceptance speech to thank members of their family who were a part of the LGBTQIA community.
Mr. Carter thanked his mom Gloria who was honored by GLAAD just last year. The rapper also opened up on his song “Smile” (which Gloria is featured on) about how he cried tears of joy when his mom finally revealed she was a lesbian.
‘Yonce dedicated her award to her uncle Johnny, who she called “the most fabulous gay man” she’s ever known. The pop star got emotional when recounting his battle with HIV and thanked his for living his life unapologetically.
And, of course, the Carters had to stunt for IG.
Other winners at the GLAAD Media Awards include Queer Eye, Love Simon, Vida, Steven Universe, Nanette, TransMilitary and more. Plus, Lizzo shut down the stage!
