Nicki Minaj says that she is pulling out of her scheduled BET Experience Concert appearance this summer over a disparaging, since-deleted tweet from the network. The tweet accompanied an article on Cardi B’s Grammy victory for Best Rap Album. It read: “Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront.”
Nicki retweeted a fan who screenshot the tweet. She also wrote, “Young Money will no longer be a part of the BET Experience or award show.” (Lil Wayne was also scheduled to perform.)
The BET Experience Concerts are set to take place June 20-22, followed by the BET Awards ceremony on June 23. Cardi B is performing at the June 22 concert.
After the tweet people were putting BET on blast, saying they owed Nicki an apology since the comment was a low blow. Nicki seemed to agree, saying … “Meanwhile, BET is being dragged by their lacefront,” adding a laughing emoji for good measure.
You’ll recall, Nicki and Cardi have been beefed out since last year with the two going head to head at a NYFW party last September. Both women said they were squashing the beef.
We’d like to think Nicki is mad about the jab at her, and not about the celebration of Cardi winning Best Rap Album. The win however has caused quite the debate on Twitter. Some don’t think Cardi was deserving of winning over Mac Miller, Travis Scott, Nipsey Hussle and Pusha T.
She subsequently made history becoming the first female rapper to win the honor. She took to her Instagram account to share her two cents.
