Jussie Smollett “Empire” Role Put On Ice — Why This May Be A Good Thing!

At this point, the Jussie Smollett saga is ever-changing. And while the jury’s still out on whether the “Empire” actor orchestrated his own attack, his role on the FOX drama is certainly in jeopardy.

According to Deadline, “Smollett’s scenes in episodes of the Lee Daniels and Danny Strong co-created series are being slashed for production on “Empire” this week.” There have also been several reports stating that the writing team has been working overtime on re-writes for the show, replacement ing upwards of nine integral scenes that Jussie was supposed to be in.

Unfortunately, “Empire” isn’t the only place Jussie’s presence has been missing. Chicago PD have requested another interview with the 36-year-old, however, Smollett has yet to oblige — and has no plans to. Jussie’s attorney’s have stated they “will keep an active dialogue with Chicago police on his behalf.”

The investigation into the racist, homophobic attack on Jussie took a surprising turn when authorities released the two Nigerian brothers who were initially labeled “potential suspects.” It has been reported that the men are “fully cooperating” with the police and have accused the actor of orchestrating his own attack which included being beaten, bleached and noosed. Coincidentally, their relationship with Smollett being on the set of “Empire” as one of the brothers had been an extra on the show.
