TV One is exploring just what happens when a mother and daughter fall for the same guy in the hilarious romantic comedy Three’s Complicated.

In the film directed by Shari Carpenter, Shanola Hampton plays Deja, a 42-year-old divorcee who soon finds out her weekend fling (played by Tyler Lepley) is also her 21-year-old daughter’s new boo. Yep, you read that right.

HipHollywood spoke with Hampton and Lepley about their interesting love triangle and their steamy love scenes.

“It’s funny, but it has heart and you don’t know who to root for,” Hampton explained. “It’s still real and you can see how when you have adults all living separate lives…  anything can happen.”

Hampton not only stars but also is executive producer on the project and had a hand in choosing her handsome co-star Lepley.

“Right away he was such a respectful person, and we just got along so well,” explained Hampton while jokingly stroking Lepley’s arm. “It really was a natural chemistry.”

“We really had a lot of fun,” added Lepley. “I didn’t get the EP credit yet … but I got like another 20 years left,” he joked, inciting a huge laugh from Hampton.

You can catch Three’s Complicated, also starring Kyanna Simone Simpson, on TV One Jan 13.
