Looks like R. Kelly’s payroll must be strong because the people around him are still making excuses for his pedophilic behavior with the latest person being his lawyer Steven Greenberg.
After the debut of Surviving R. Kelly, Greenberg made an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America in an attempt to do some damage control for his client.
“We know what happened, and we know those things didn’t happen. The man was not operating a harem or a sex cult or holding people hostage or anything like that,” Greenberg said.
He adamantly denied that R Kelly slept with any underaged girls but did admit that he had married Aaliyah when she was 15.
“He was married to her when she was 15. Elvis was married to Priscilla,” Greenberg said as a way to save face. He then goes to say the unthinkable when interviewer Linsey Davis says, “But so then 15 is not of the age of legal consent.”
“Right,” Greenberg responded. “Except that my understanding is that she did not claim to be 15, and in order to get married, she had to lie about her age.”
“And he is saying that he had no idea?” Davis asked.
“No idea,” Greenberg confirmed.
Seriously? We know people didn’t use the internet much back then but everyone knew she was underage…
Anyways, as bizarre as it sounds, Greenberg believes that R. Kelly’s case is a winner despite all of the evidence against him.
”I think R. Kelly is going to be the easiest client I ever had, because he didn’t do anything wrong and he’s not going to get charged with anything,“ he said. ”So I’m not going to have to do anything.”
