There seems to be some beef brewing due north and it could possibly lead to a fall-out between Canadian bros The Weeknd and Drake.
It all started with T-Dub (The Weeknd … get it?) dropping a new song with French DJ Gesaffelstein late Thursday night. In the track, titled “Lost On Fire”, the R&B crooner sings, “And I just want a baby with the right one / ‘Cause I could never be the one to hide one.” The. Shaaaaade.
In case you have amnesia, or have conveniently blocked out how Pusha T ethered your fave last summer, let us remind you about Drizzy and his hidden son Adonis. In his diss track “The Story of Adidion” Push exposed Drake as being a dead beat dad for fathering a son (from a 2-night stand relationship), but hiding said offspring. In his own defense, Champagne Papi explained the situation in song, stating, “I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world, I was hiding the world from my kid.” Whatevs.
But that brings us back to The Weeknd using that sensitive subject as a subtle shots fired. Well, ok, maybe the situation is less “shots fired” and more knives poking, but nonetheless, words were said and apologies will probably be made.
Take a listen to the track below and let us know if you think the bruh’s now have beef.
Oh, and Drake’s has yet to respond. But folks think that The Weekend has every right to be mad at Drizzy because the rapper tried to holla at TW’s girl Bella Hadid when they were on a 6-month break.
Damn, what happened to bro-code?
