Call it foreshadowing or call it a coincidence — Looking back on this interview with Cardi B in 2016, and then looking at the current state of her marriage with Offset, makes us think that cheating may have played a part in ending their union.
It’s a sad throwback, but nonetheless, Cardi was spitting straight facts about what she would, and would not, tolerate in a relationship. Number one on her list of reasons to leave: cheating. Ain’t no love triangles around here, B!
The conversation spurred from what was happening on Love & Hip Hop at the time. When the “Bodak Yellow” was still on the reality show the main story line was the pitiful love trio of Peter Gunz, Amina Buddafly and Tara Wallace. When asked if she could ever be that ride or die for a man, Cardi promptly told us that would be a ‘hell no’ … with a caveat.
So what does that have to do with the recent news of her leaving Offset? Well, just look at what he’s put her through. First, he was caught cheating at the very beginning of their marriage. At the time, Cardi tweeted, “But what you want me to do? Go f*ck me another ni**a? start all over again and get cheated on again? This sh*t happens to everyone … People handle they relationship different soo.” Unfortunately, many took this to me that Cardi was going to stay with her cheating man — and that she did. But since then, Off has been accused of no less than five more affairs, with the most recent accusation happening just a day ago.
And we’re thinking that maybe, just maybe, she woke up and went back to her original feelings of being in a relationship with a man who had various other women just isn’t for her.
Only time will tell, though — Cardi hasn’t filed for divorce and many believe this is just a stunt to promote Offset’s upcoming album. What do you think?
