Hollywood Heavyweights: Is Kobe Bryant Taking Pointers From LeBron James?

Kobe Bryant is out here taking Hollywood by storm — much like he did the hardwood in the NBA!
Following his historic Academy-Award win, Bryant didn’t just rest on his laurels. Instead, the basketball legend poured his energy into making sure his production company, Granity Studios, continued to crank out quality content.
Lately, we’ve also seen another NBA titan doing the same thing — LeBron James. The King’s SpringHill Entertainment company has six current projects, six in development and three in production. This doesn’t even include the successful past projects, like the TV show “Survivor’s Remorse” or the film, “More Than A Game.” Clearly, James has Hollywood on lock … and clearly Kobe is trying to do the same.
Now, we don’t know Bryant has asked James for advice navigating these Hollywood waters (although we do know James wishes they had played together), but if not, thats ok, the Mamba seems to be doing just fine.
Kobe’s Granity Studios has just announced their new slate of projects and it looks just as impressive as James’. The multi-platform entertainment company is focusing on “creating and producing inspiring, youth-oriented sports-meets-fantasy-themed content with a diverse array of characters,” so says the press release. So, what does that mean? Well, first, it means new novels on the horizon. “Each book will thematically revolve around athlete protagonists who, through the use of their imaginations and hearts, overcome obstacles to become their best selves.” Plus, each novel was conceptualized by Bryant and written in conjunction with a notable fiction author.
The Wizenard Series: Training Camp
This series will feature a diverse cast of young male characters and their mysterious coach who breaks down five individual players to build a team. Look forward to this launching in March 2019.
Legacy and the Queen
This is the story of a young, black, female tennis prodigy who uses her talents to take on the most powerful player, “the Queen,” and save her family from ruin. This novel will hit shelves worldwide in July 2019.
Viva
A tale about a Latina princess who struggles with her quest for success in a kingdom under siege, is slated for October 2019.
Bryant also wants to take the novels up a notch by bringing the stories to life on the small and big screens. “I built Granity Studios as a platform to create and share original stories to inspire today’s young athletes. There’s surprisingly little content that combines the passion of sports and the traditions of original storytelling. Granity Studios will fill that void,” said Bryant. “Our team has worked tirelessly to put together an incredible slate of projects that we believe will change how young athletes learn more about themselves, as well as the sports they play. As a creator, producer, and most importantly, the father of three young girls, I continue to be inspired to build a studio that welcomes diverse storytellers who aim to inspire young people to reach their full potential.”
