Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the American Music Awards for the second time last night and she served looks with a purpose! The “Black-ish” actress tweeted that she would be wearing only Black designers for her show looks.
… And we were not disappointed!

Tracee first strutted down the red carpet in a pink Pyer Moss suit before changing into a custom Dapper Dan x Gucci cape for her opening performance.
She traded in her street style for glamorous gold sequined CD Greene gown.
The actress also got a little political on us with an “I AM A Voter” T-shirt, a collaborative design made by her stylist Karla Welch and When We All Vote. She completed the look with a bright red Shanel Campbell skirt and Aminah Jilil shoes.
Of course, a Black designer wardrobe isn’t complete without Virgil Abloh. Tracee wore a light pink tulle gown by Off-White before getting catty with us in a Sergio Hudson leopard-print catsuit which was paired with matching gloves and beret.
Our African designers weren’t left out either! Lavie by CK made a debut at the AMAs as Tracee wore an African printed fishtail sequin gown with a deep plunge in the front from the designer.
A black skin hugging Balmain suit dress followed up her afrocentric look.
She tailored back into a simple blue belted DÈSHON gown paired with shoulder-dusting crystal earrings before ending the night in a cute red off-the-shoulder Cushnie jumpsuit.
