At the time, the comedian, who was at the height of his career, claimed someone was trying to kill him, but cops could find no evidence to support his claims. His reps said it was dehydration and exhaustion, but it was clear the Def Comedy Jam host was spiraling out of control. Shortly thereafter, his Martin show castmate Tisha Campbell-Martin claimed he was consistently inappropriate on set and refused to film with him. And then there was the 1997 incident when he lapsed into a three-day coma after collapsing from heat exhaustion while jogging in hot weather with a nylon jogging suit and a wool cap. Lawrence would later admit drugs and the pressures of Hollywood caused his bizarre behavior.
