Halle Berry, Lena Waithe Sign On For ‘Boomerang’ TV Series

Is Halle Berry ready to reprise her role as Angela from the 90s hit “Boomerang”?
Well, no not exactly. But the gorgeous actress has signed on to bring the classic comedy to the small screen in a major way! Berry, alongside “The Chi” creator Lena Waithe, will executive produce “Boomerang” the series which is set to air on BET. “I’m thrilled to team up with Lena on this project as she is without a doubt a leading voice of her generation and a trail blazer in her own right. I’m truly excited to be a part of bringing this iconic and beloved film to the small screen,” said Berry.
According to BET, here’s what you can expect of the small screen adaptation:
Based on the 1992 American romantic comedy film, this new series will follow the lives of Jacqueline Boyer’s son and Marcus and Angela Graham’s daughter as they try to step out of their parents’ shadows and make a legacy of their own.
The series will include 10-episode half-hour series and will premiere on BET in 2019. Waithe and show runner Ben Cory Jones co-wrote the pilot episode and Dime Davis will direct the pilot episode as well as additional episodes including the finale. “There’s no point in trying to remake a classic. It can’t be done,” Lena stated. “So we want to create something fresh that speaks to a new generation. We hope people will come to the show with an open mind and ready to embrace the new world we’ve created!”
Halle also posted a little throwback to the original, stating how excited she was to bring it to the small screen. Will you be tuning in?!
