Look, anytime our folks can walk away with a victory it’s a good day in our books. But, we when score multiple victories at the same [email protected] time, then it’s time for the turn up!!
That’s exactly what happened Sunday at the 70th annual Emmy Awards. A plethora of melanated folks took home trophies for their exceptional work on television — and we’re here for it.
First, let’s clap for Regina King who won for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie”
for her role in “Seven Seconds”. She is SO very deserving.
Next, Thandie Newton shined in her role on “Westworld” and nabbed a win for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series”.
And, let’s talk about the historic win for “RuPaul’s Drag Race”!! The show won “Outstanding Reality/Competition Series” AND RuPaul himself won at the Creative Arts Emmys for “Outstanding Host”. No show has EVER nabbed both trophies!
And speaking of the Creative Arts Emmys, we would be remised not to mention that, in addition to RuPaul, Tiffany Haddish, Katt Williams, Samira Wiley, Ron Cephas Jones and John Legend all took home trophies for the awards show that was held on Saturday.
