The Queen of Soul is being laid to rest and fans from across the globe have come to pay their final respects.

Mourners lined up at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for a viewing on Tuesday, August 28th in Detroit, Michigan. Many cried, brought flowers, made t-shirts and said their good-byes to the legendary singer that impacted so many lives.

Ms. Franklin was laid in a gold casket, on display, for her fans to see her one last time. She will lie in state for a couple of days.

This public tribute followed Monday night’s service at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit — the same church Aretha’s father, C.L. Franking, pastored for over 30 years.

Aretha Franklin passed away from advanced pancreatic cancer on August 16th at age 76. There will be another memorial service on Thursday where the Four Tops, Ron Isley and others will perform. Then, Franklin’s funeral service will be held on Friday at the Greater Grace Temple. Stevie Wonder and Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams and Jennifer Holliday are set to pay tribute.
