Just hours after news broke of Aretha Franklin’s death two pop superstars paid tribute to the Queen of Soul by singing one of her most famous hits, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”.
It’s a hefty task; performing any song that Franklin sang must be quite intimidating and overwhelming. But, Ariana Grande and Alicia Keys both attempted the daunting feat.
Keys belted out the chart-topping single while visiting Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio. Before singing, Alicia said it was “a blessing to celebrate life, celebrate greatness,” she also went on to call “A Natural Woman” one of her “favorite songs.”
On the other hand, Grande had to be convinced she could tackle the tribute while visiting “The Tonight Show”. The “Dangerous Woman” singer initially stopped by the Jimmy Fallon hosted talk show to just do a skit (and promote her new album, Sweetner). However, after some coxing from Roots frontman Questlove, Ariana built up the courage to deliver her rendition of “A Natural Woman”. She opened the show, got a standing ovation and broke down in tears backstage following the performance.
Do you think these ladies made Aretha proud?
