It’s that time of year again!! The MTV Video Music Awards will be airing tomorrow from the Radio City Music Hall and for all the true fans, you know the show is everything but predictable. From girls kissing girls to baby announcements, the VMAs has never disappointed. Since it will be the first time the show has gone back to it’s NYC roots since 2009, let’s take a trip down memory lane with 8 of the VMAs most memorable performances:

8. Can The Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up?!

Remember that time Eminem brought out a military line up of 100 blonde headed clones to distrupt New York City’s 6th Avenue before taking over Radio City Music Hall in 2000?  If not …

you’re welcome!

7. Lady Gaga Draws Blood For Her First Performance

Now we all know Lady Gaga for her amazing voice but her over the top performances always take the cake and her first ever VMA performance was no different. Back in 2009, her rendition of her hit song “Paparazzi” ended with her in blood… fake blood of course but still just as shocking. If you listen closely you can almost hear people gasping in the audience.

6. Kanye West Runs Away In His Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

We know Kanye isn’t everyone’s favorite at the moment but we have to give props where it’s due! Who can forget his epic “Runaway” performance back in 2010? The Chicago rapper, who was dressed in a classic red suit, started his set DJing before bringing out Pusha T and a few ballerinas. Can we also get into the iconic stage graphics??? We think it’s safe to say he was definitely trying to redeem himself for that Taylor Swift shade heard around the world just a year earlier.

5. Diddy Remembers the Notorious B.I.G.

It’s 2018 and the world is still trying to come to terms with the violent death of one of Hip Hop’s most influential artists… the Notorious B.I.G. In 1997,  just a few months after Biggie’s death, Diddy performed arguably the best farewell tribute to date. Diddy joined forces with Biggies’s widow Faith Evans, 112 and Sting. The performance was so iconic it left the audience in tears swaying lighters from side to side as they remembered their favorite artist.

4. What Do Madonna, Brittany Spears and Christina Aguilera Have In Common?

They all shared a kiss with eachother at the 2003 VMAs. In honor of Madonna’s 1984 ‘Like A Virgin’ performance where she popped out of a cake in a wedding dress, Spears and Aguilera performed in sexy wedding assembles before the Queen of Pop herself hopped out of a replica cake on stage and let’s just say the rest was history.

3. Prince Bares It All

We love the 90s and Prince is one of the main reasons why. In 1991, the “Purple Rain” singer gave the VMAs a bird’s eye view of his manly backside and let’s just say it wasn’t a bad look either. So for all you girls (and boys) who’ve been obsessed with the booty cutouts just know Prince did it first!

2. Beyonce Drops The Mic Before Announcing First Pregnancy

In the eye of the Beyhive, Beyonce can do no wrong and in the year 2011 it wasn’t any different. Queen Bey decided to break MTV when she revealed that she was pregnant with baby Blue. We don’t know what was more iconic… her reveal or Jay Z’s reaction.

1. Michael Jackson

This one needs no introduction… just sit back and enjoy one of the greatest legends to ever walk this Earth.

The VMAs will air tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET/PT and from the looks of it your faves have some pretty huge shoes to fill. Who are you most excited to see?
