Surprise! LeBron James is officially a Los Angeles Laker — but, honestly, we all should have seen this coming years ago.
King James’ agency, Klutch Sports, announced on Sunday that the superstar would be signing a 4-year, $154 million deal with the famed Lakers (the contract is actually worth $153.3 million, but who’s counting). And while the money is good, like REAL good, that wasn’t Born Bron’s only motivation for moving out west.
The 4-time MVP has been a fixture in Hollywood for years — Even dating back to 2011 when James teamed up with Jay-Z as a part of the “2 Kings Project” where they helped renovate an East LA Boys & Girls Club.

The NBA baller also flexed his muscle on the big screen in the flicks “Ballers” and “Trainwreck”
Plus, Brony-Cakes has his own production company, SpringHill Entertainment, which is set to remake the 90s classic “House Party”. Not to mention, James invested $15.8 million in Uninterrupted, a social-media platform he and his partners created that allows direct interaction between athletes and fans. The latter, not necessarily a Hollywood endeavor, but it definitely shows his business savvy.
Oh, and let’s not forget this glaring clue … rumors began swirling weeks ago that LeBron’s oldest son, and hot shot basketball player in his own right, LeBron Jr. (rising 8th grader) would be attending Sierra Canyon, which is the premier private school for ballers out west.
Clearly, James has a lot of motivation for being in Los Angeles; the move will solidify him as a force to be reckoned with on the hardwood and in the Hollywood boardrooms.
