Just when we were trying to understand Kanye West and finished watching his almost 2-hour interview with Charlamagne Tha God … this happens.
Doubling down on his thoughts on President Trump, West appeared for an interview at the headquarters of TMZ on Tuesday and made some disparaging remarks about slavery … thankfully, TMZ staffer Van Lathan got him all the way together.
“When you hear about slavery for 400 years…that sounds like a choice,” the rapper said while speaking with Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere. “Like, you was there for 400 years and it’s all of you?” he added.
In response, Lathan chimed in, hitting back at West’s claims.
“Kanye, you’re entitled to your opinion…but there is real life consequence behind everything that you just said …We have to deal with the marginalization that has come from the 400 years of slavery that you said for our people was a choice,” Lathan said before noting that he was “disappointed” and “appalled” that West has become something that is “not real.”
Kanye is seen in the video walking over to Lathan and apologizing for hurting him. But the damage may have already been done and no amount of apologizing is going to get Yeezy out of this one.
Bottom line … he went to far. We’re now convinced, he has been reading them say books about slavery as Ben Carson.
