There’s only two words to describe the 2018 Met Gala – HOLY and CHIC.
On Monday, stars turned out for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Exhibit dressed for the GAWDS in recognition of this years theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”
But for every saint their were definitely some sinners. Check out who was serving their Sundays best and who looked truly god-awful.
This years host and queen of the Met Gala returned to reclaim her crown. Rihanna wore a pearl- and crystal-embellished Maison Margiela gown by John Galliano, complete with a matching papal mitre of course.
Jennifer Lopez came to slay per usual in a feathered and embellished Balmain gown with a large cross in the center.
Katy Perry also came to shut the Met Gala down. Perry wore this gold Versace chain-mail minidress, thigh-high boots, and giant feathered angel wings, which reportedly spanned six feet.
Channeled Joan of Arc rocking a custom metallic Versace gown featuring an armored neck-and-shoulder piece, sparkling chainmail, a spiked belt, and a modest train. She also wore a cropped red wig in the style of The Maid of Orléans’ famous bob.
Jasmine Sanders, attended her first Met Gala, living up to her IG handle @golden_barbie in a custom strapless lamé dress by H&M. Meanwhile her Rapunzel-length braid studded with red roses was giving us all the feels.
Kerry Washington was also dripping in melanin and gold in this long-sleeved, bronze gown by Ralph Lauren.
Yara Shahidi looked angelic in this white Chanel gown and floral headpiece which were a big trend for the evening.
SZA also looked like an angel in countless layers of lilac tulle, topped, with a crown-like halo.
Cardi B attended her first Met Gala looking like mother Teresa in this ornate Moschino gown with thigh high split and matching headpiece. She also showed the world how to rock a gloved look while pregnant at the Met Gala … but we digress.
Rita Ora also made a statement with a with a radiant headpiece and black embellished gown by Prada . Just as conspicuous: her teensy, tiny yellow purse and black gloves.
The win for most creative headpiece goes to Solange of course. Solo topped off her black latex Iris Van Herpen ensemble with a black du-rag and gold braided halo.
We also totally expected Janelle Monae to nail tonight’s theme … and well she did. The Dirty Computer star looked like a sexy nun in this Marc Jacobs gown.
Nicki Minaj arrived looking like a queen wearing custom red and black Oscar De La Renta … and speaking of Queens she said that’s also the name of her album dropping June 15.
Chadwick Boseman represented for the fellas, getting our best dressed man of the night award, in this Versace caped suit.
The Migos also rocked Versace Versace Versace for the evening but we can’t decide if it was a holy hot mess or colorfully creative creation.
We’re not on the fence however about Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott’s look for the night. We’re convinced they opted against following the evenings’ theme and just came for the party and the bathroom selfie.
Zoe Kravitz also decided to rebel against the religious theme opting to wear no underwear in this barely there lace Yves Saint Laurent dress.
We also expected more from Gabrielle Union who bored us to tears in this bright yellow dress … unless she channeling God’s light, in which case she won the evening.
