Guess who came out of hiding to announce she’s dropping new music? Nicki Minaj that’s who. The Queen Barbz just dropped news that she’s finally releasing 2 new singles this week, and we get the feeling it has a WHOLE lot to do with Cardi B.
Just days after Cardi dropped her debut album Invasion of Privacy, Minaj who has been off the grid since December, made the big announcement on Tuesday via her social media outlets sharing cover art to the singles, “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz.”
From what folks on Twitter are saying, Chun-Li is a character in Capcom’s Street Fighter series. In the cover art, Nicki rocks a Fendi jacket and matching thong with her hair in two buns similar to the Street Fighter character.
In the cover for “Barbie Tingz,” Nicki serves up Victorian vibes as she surrounded by masked women in similar corseted gowns.
Minaj posted in the caption of both photos that music would be releasing this Thursday, April 12th at 1pm EST/10am PST.
Before she announced her new singles, she hit up Twitter for the first time in 2018 and sent out a few cryptic messages then deleted them. First, she tweeted the number “4” and then the number “3”
Sources told HipHollywood back in February that she was busy working on her fourth studio album, and would re-surface once she was done.
The timing seems pretty interesting, but then again Drake did also drop new music on Cardi’s release day so maybe it’s a just coincidence.
