Nicki Minaj dropped two hot new tracks on Thursday morning and opened up about her anticipated fourth studio album. Folks, it’s officially #NickiDay!
Days after using social media to tease new music, the female emcee released a track called “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li.” Mere minutes after the new songs dropped, folks flocked to social media to praise the rapper for going back to her roots.
While “Chun-Li” proves to be an ode to the Street Fighter character, it’s “Barbie Tingz” that have people losing their wigs. On the catchy track, the rapper takes aim at the women have “cloned” her.
“I get all my ni**as off, but they would still wife me,” she raps. “Rap bitches tell they team make ’em like Barbie / Had to come off IG so they can’t stalk me / All they do is copy looks, steal music too / Want to see what bitches do when they lose the blueprint.”
While it’s unclear if she’s talking about Cardi B, who dropped her debut track last week, people are already calling “Barbie Tingz” the new summer anthem.
As the music dropped on iTunes, the New York native also simultaneously opened up to Beats 1 host, Zane Lowe, about her new LP that she claims “is the best album I’ve ever, ever, ever in my life created.”
During her chat with Lowe, Minaj, who confirmed a tour is coming soon, also opened up about the beef between her now ex, Meek Mill and her label mate Drake. “It was one of the hardest parts of my career, to date,” she said.
The 34-year-old explained, “Because at the time I did love both of them and I couldn’t erase the love that I had for my team, but I also couldn’t speak out. I couldn’t really say much, and I felt so imprisoned in that moment.”
“It was difficult to stay out of it, I was behind the scenes of course wishing it never happened,” she added. “Even prior to it happening I tried to stop it from happening. I said [to Meek] don’t do that.”
Just last month, after months of being seemingly quiet on social media, HipHollywood broke news that she had been in Miami working on new music. Well folks, it’s here.
As for what’s on deck for the rest of the day, Nicki’s label Young Money confirmed that she soon be releasing the track featuring Young Thug, “Hear No Evil.”
