Loni Love is weighing in on the controversy surrounding fellow comedienne Mo’Nique and her call to boycott Netflix.
While many are criticizing the Oscar-winning actress and don’t agree with her fight against the streaming service, Love told HipHollywood she would love to have Mo’Nique on The Real so she could share her side of the story.
“What I realize having a show is that you have to talk to tell your side of the story and sometimes when you’re not allowed to talk it confuses people.”
In recent weeks Mo’Nique has been on shows like The View and The Breakfast Club and gotten into seemingly contentious confrontations with the hosts over Netflix offering her less than male comedian’s Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle and white comedian Amy Schumer.
Love says she does however believe pay inequity is real in Hollywood and commends Mo’Nique for speaking out.
“There have been story upon story about the pay inequities so it’s time to speak up,” she said while on the carpet for Essence Black Women In Hollywood. “People have a right to speak up the way they want to speak up though, that’s the thing, and they have a right to tell their stories and I’m happy and I support them.”
