Jordan Peele just took home the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Get Out.

This, people, is MAJOR. Why? Whelp, Peele just made history as the very first Black screenwriter to snag an Oscar in this category.

During his acceptance speech, the writer dedicated that award to those “who raised my voice and let me make this movie.” He also suggested “I stopped writing this movie 20 times because I thought it was impossible … I kept coming back to it.”

Jordan also thanked all the movie goers for “shouting in the theater; for shouting at the screen.”

On Sunday night, the comedian also made history for becoming the first Black man to be nominated for best screenplay, best director and best film in one year for his record breaking blockbuster.

This is the first Oscar for Peele.
