Stop what you’re doing people! Kendrick Lamar and SZA have finally dropped the music video for the track “All the Stars,” which appears on the “Black Panther” soundtrack and it’s everything we’ve ever needed and more.
Like the film it’s based on, the video is unapologetic in it’s representation Africa and highlights the true glory of what it means to be black. Off the rip, Lamar comes riding in on the arms of his ancestors, while SZA performs the chorus amid a field of stars and galaxies cascading all around her.
It begins and ends with a galaxy of stars in the shape of the continent that SZA dances in throughout the video. It also showcases vibrant African-print clothing, traditional tribal body paint and royals dripping in gold.
“All the Stars,” directed by Dave Myers and the little homies, glorifies aspects of Africa that are rarely seen in mainstream industries and does so flawlessly.
Folks on Twitter were also super hype about it, calling the video a “visual feast” and the best music video … EVER.
The visuals and Afrocentrism in #AllTheStars gave me so much life, I cried 🙂 Black is so beautiful!!!
