Daniel Kaluuya is excited he’s nabbed an Oscar nomination for his role in Get Out, but he isn’t getting a speech prepared. The British actor hilariously told us he doesn’t think he has a shot in hell of winning.
“I’m up against Gary Owen, Daniel Day Lewis and flipping Denzel Washington how the hell can I have a speech prepared. I’m just living my life. I’m happy to be chilling,” he told HipHollywood exclusively.
Kaluuya who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the Jordan Peele directed flick, said the whole experience has been so surreal, he’s barely been out of his house since nominations were announced.
“This is the first time I’ve been out, it’s been so surreal,” he said while at the world premiere for Marvel Studio’s Black Panther. “The word Oscar is all around me so it’s kind of weird.”
But he probably should start getting used to all the attention. Folks are already buzzing about Black Panther and the film hasn’t even hit theaters yet. We can only imagine how life will change after February 16.
