Courtney B. Vance thinks an Oscar win of this wife, Angela Bassett, is well overdue.
As folks anticipate the arrival of Black Panther, there’s already chatter about next year’s award season from stars connected to the Marvel masterpiece, including Bassett.
While at the AAFCA Awards, Angela’s husband told HipHollywood that his queen should have picked up an Academy Award over three decades ago for her role in What’s Love Got to Do With It.
“She’s given more to this industry than anyone I know of. I’m ready for her Oscar that she should’ve got 25 years ago with Tina Turner,” he explained. “I’m her biggest fan and her biggest supporter.”
Vance concluded, “I’m excited for her and this is the tip of the iceberg.”
In the film, out this Friday, Bassett plays Ramonda, mother of T’Challa (a.k.a. Black Panther) and is Queen of Wakanda.
The movie is already estimated to garner $165 million it’s opening weekend. If successful in garnering over the $165 million mark, the film will make history as the top February launch of all time.
