It’s officially safe to say that a Martin reboot is on it’s way folks, and two of the show’s biggest star’s are finally speaking out.
While on the red carpet for the African Black Film Festival Honors, Carl Payne and Tichina Arnold opened up about the project fans have been waiting for since the series finale in 1997.
“The tea is hot, we are stirring it. You might be sipping it soon,” Payne told us.
Tichina also confirmed that the project is well underway and that “we are not trying to reinvent the wheel, we aren’t trying to remake anything. What we would like to do is breathe new life into it so it goes with today’s time.”
Arnold also unveiled just how the show will move forward without the presence of original cast member, Tommy Ford, who passed away in October 2016 after suffering an aneurysm. “Martin will not be the same without Tommy,” Arnold said of her late television boyfriend. “Tommy will never be replaced if it does happen.”
She added, “It’s gotta be right, it’s gotta be real, it’s gotta be organic. It’s gotta be where we can enjoy it for another twenty years from now.”
Chatter of the big 90’s sitcom coming back to life first started after Martin Lawrence’s financée wrote on Instagram, “Got word from my fiancé that my favorite show may be coming back.”
Tisha Campbell also eluded to a Martin reboot when HipHollywood caught up with her exclusively last month. The actress played coy about being Gina again, but she didn’t exactly hide her excitement.
