2018 SAG Awards: Sterling K. Brown Scores Another Win … Why THIS One Was Actually A Surprise!

There’s no question that Sterling K. Brown is on a roll, scoring one win after another. But, his latest victory at the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was actually a shocker!

Yes, “This Is Us” is fantastic. And, yes Brown is fantastic in it. But, you can’t deny the power of ‘GoT’! Sterling was up against “Games Of Thrones” actor Peter Dinklage (among David Harbour, Bob Odenkirk and Jason Bateman) in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series and this was a close one.

Dinklage has an undeniable fanbase due to the popularity of the HBO show, and due to the show nearing its end many thought it could have been Tyrion Lannister pulling out the win. But as you probably know, the SAG Awards are actors voting for actors and that’s what gave Brown his edge. Sterling has put on an impressive show this awards season and his character Randall Pearson is loved by fans and actors alike … did you see Niecy Nash’s excitement?!

As always, Brown gave a beautiful acceptance speech making sure to thank his even more beautiful wife.

“What a blessing it is to do what you love for a living. What an honor it is to be recognized by your peers for a job well done. This room is a source of endless inspiration for me. I love all of you. People call us weird and strange, truth of the matter is everyone is weird and strange and we just embrace ourselves for who we are. I love actors so much I decided to marry one, Ryan Michelle Bathe – you’re the best singing partner I’ve ever had.”

Congrats, Sterling! This makes him the first African-American man to receive the Actor® for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series!

Oh, and then this happened. “This Is Us” with the big win!!
