Following the premiere of Love & Hip Hop Miami on Monday night folks are talking about one person, and it’s Afro-Latina singer Amara La Negra.
The Dominican Republic born, Miami-bred beauty had folks talking not only because of her stunning good looks, but also because of the blatantly racist exchange she had with cast member Young Hollywood. The (lame) producer told her her afro was not “elegant” enough for the music industry and she needed to change her look.
Of course folks went in via Twitter.
Wow. Love and hip hop Miami has opened the door of the colorism and racism in the Latino community #LHHMIA

I’m actually offended by this conversation that Young Hollywood is having with her. #lhhmia

This is so damn ignorant. He’s so anti-Black that it’s disgusting. Why did Mona even allow this racist piece of shit on here?? He’s even using AAVE while being disgusting toward this Black woman. #LHHMIA

Young Hollywood is so fucking ignorant. He’s laughing because she takes being Afro-Latina so fucking seriously. He’s anti-Black as fuck. He’s making her Afro-Latina the top of discussion in a negative and that’s why it’s a problem. #LHHMIA

Thankfully his opinion doesn’t really matter. According to Billboard, Amara has already inked a multi-album record deal with Fast Life Entertainment Worldwide and BMG. We have a feeling this is just the beginning for Amara. But could she be the next Cardi B? Let us know in the comments below.
