Kimora Lee Simmons is defending her ex-husband, Russell Simmons, amid new sexual assault claims.
On Thursday night, the model wrote on Instagram that she’s known Russell for “over 25 years” and that they were “close friends, married, divorced and have remained friends, co-paretns and partners throughout it all.”
She continued, “These allegations against him are nothing like the person I have known in all that time. I have known him to be a caring and supportive father who has worked tirelessly to uplift disenfranchised communities.”
Simmons posts comes after alleged victim, Jennifer Jarosik, filed a $5 million lawsuit against Russell for sexual assault and battery and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
According to Jarosik, Simmons practically raped her after he agreed to help finance and produce her documentary. Jennifer mad the 11th alleged victim.
“This allegation is absolutely untrue,” Simmons said in a statement by his representative, Eric Rose. “I look forward to having my day in court — where, unlike the court of public opinion, I will have the ability to make use of fair processes that ensure that justice will be done and that the full truth will be known.”
Back in November, the 60-year-old made headlines after Jenny Lumet wrote a story for The Hollywood Reporter about the night she was allegedly sexually violated by Simmons back in 1991. Following her account, Simmons stepped down from all of his businesses.
That same month, after an article was published by The Los Angeles Times about his alleged repetitive behavior, the New York native released a lengthy statement calling all of his former encounters “consensual.”
