Former NBA player, Rasual Butler, and his famous wife, Leah LaBelle, were killed early Wednesday morning in a tragic car crash.
According to officials, it was unclear who was in the drivers seat — but the couple lost control of their Range Rover around 2am, hit a parking meter and slammed into a wall. That’s when the car flipped.
The car was said to be traveling between 60 – 90mph on the popular strip of Ventura Blvd. The speed limit on that particular curve is 30mph.
Rasual, 38, was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2002 where he played for three seasons. The athlete hopped to several teams before landing with Timberwolves where he was waived after only playing 5 pre-season games.
Butler was good friends with Lamar Odom and also appeared on an episode of Khloe & Lamar. The former NBA player also once dated Khloe’s best friend, Malika Haqq.
He, however, wound up marrying the love of his life and singer, Leah. LaBelle was most known for her spectacular voice and appearance on season 3 American Idol — the same year Fantasia won.
Leah worked with a handful of A list stars, including Usher and Jermaine Dupri. The singer, however, had the luxury of having Pharrell as her mentor.
It’s unclear where the couple was going or coming from, but according to Leah’s bio on Instagram: Unicorns don’t die.
