When you think of the Grammys, the first name that certainly doesn’t come to mind is Dave Chappelle. But tonight, that all changed.
Chappelle not only helped open the annual awards show alongside U2 and Kendrick Lamar, but he took home a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album for his Netflix comedy specials The Age of Spin & Deep in the Heart of Texas. “I”m honored to win an award,” he said.
After the comedian thanked a handful of people, including his wife and kids, he abruptly ended by saying: “See you on Monday.”
Yes folks, his speech was short … but to the point.
Chappelle beat out Jim Gaffican (Cinco), Jerry Seinfeld (Jerry Before Seinfeld), Sarah Silverman (A Speck of Dust) and Kevin Hart (What Now).
