The forthcoming release of Black Panther has been the buzz in Hollywood for months, and as of this week, the anticipation just helped Ryan Coogler’s film make history.

According to Fandango, the first 24 hours of ticket presales for the movie was larger than any Marvel movie. The last film to hold the title was Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

Black Panther is riding an incredible wave of momentum right now,” Fandango editor, Erik Davis, said. “It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated movies to ever open in the month of February, and its trailers have electrified the internet. Tickets have been going fast ever since pre-sales started on Fandango late Monday.”

On Monday night, a national spot for the Chadwick Boseman film aired during the College Football Playoff National Championship, which immediately helped boost sales.

Fandango also confirmed that based on a survey of 8000 movie lovers, Boseman was voted the most “anticipated” comic book hero in a standalone movie.Black Panther, also starring Michael B. Jordan and Angela Bassett, hits theaters February 16.
