Bill Cosby was accused by dozens of women over the past several years of sexual assault and rape, but are other men in Hollywood now starting to overshadow the comedian?

The reputation of the man who was once America’s favorite television dad was completely tarnished, as more than two dozen women accused the actor of sexual misconduct, including allegations that he drugged and raped them in incidents dating back more than four decades.

For almost two years, it was Cosby’s name whose name was thrown into the fire and burned to ash for his alleged sexually violent behavior. Now, however, following the takedown of product Harvey Weinstein, it appears as though Cosby, who earlier this year had a mistrial in the Andrea Constand rape case, is quietly being tossed to the wayside.

Men are being taken down one by one in Hollywood, but it appears as though media mogul Russell Simmons is starting to come to the forefront following multiple rape allegations.

According to reports, NYPD is now launching a full investigation into the series of claims of sexual misconduct. The latest victim to come forward is former America’s Next Top Model judge, Kelly Cutrone, who claims Simmons tried to rape her after they left a party together back in 1991.

Earlier this week, The New York Times released three names of women who also came forward claiming rape.

But in a lengthy statement released by the father of two, who has already stepped down from his companies amid the claims, all of his sexual encounters have been consensual.

“I am blessed to have shared extraordinary relationships, whether through work or love, with many great women; and I have enormous respect for the women’s movement worldwide and their struggle for respect, dignity, equality and power,” he wrote in a statement.

He explained, “I am devastated by any reason I may have given to anyone to say or think of me in the ways that are currently being described. In recent weeks, some former business, creative and romantic partners have aired grievances as claims I categorically reject. In some of these instances, financial motives and direct contradictory witness testimony has been supplied to the media, which has been completely left out of stories. In the last few days, one woman attempted to extort me for $500,000 only to recant her ridiculous claim. The current allegations sent to me by The New York Times range from the patently untrue to the frivolous and hurtful. The presumption of innocent until proven guilty must not be replaced by “Guilty by Accusation.”

Simmons added, “I have already apologized for the instances of thoughtlessness in my consensual relations. I have separated myself from my businesses and charities in order to not become a distraction. I have re-dedicated myself to spiritual learning, healing and working on behalf of the communities to which I have devoted my life. I have accepted that I can and should get dirt on my sleeves if it means witnessing the birth of a new consciousness about women. What I will not accept is responsibility for what I have not done. I have conducted my life with a message of peace and love. Although I have been candid about how I have lived in books and interviews detailing my flaws, I will relentlessly fight against any untruthful character assassination that paints me as a man of violence.”

Per reports, NYPD is looking into seven cases alleging sexual misconduct. It’s unclear what the outcome will be, if it’s anything like Cosby, Simmons can expect to be tossed into the mouth of the beast, chewed up and then spit out.
