Selena Gomez turned her Instagram to private on Monday after blasting Billboard magazine for misquoting her.
During a recent interview with the publication, Gomez apparently opened up about a teddy bear someone once gifted her. “It was a gift, and at first I thought, ‘This is so ridiculous, I can’t wait until I give it away to another person,'” she was quoted.
According to the magazine, the singer “hasn’t let go of [the teddy bear] — yet.”
Gomez, however, took offense to the quote and boy did she let the publication have it. “Never will I let another human guess my words ever again, or invite them in my home. That is so hurtful. The most ‘ridiculous’ part of that is no one knowing my heart when I say things.”
Following her IG rant, the singer, who also just so happens to be the most followed star on Instagram, switched her social media account to private.
The singer is not the only star to go private or delete their Instagram. Here are four other stars who have chosen to be a bit more private.
Nick Cannon: Earlier this year, Cannon chucked deuces to IG because it just got too personal. “I wasn’t making no money from Instagram,” he said. “Instagram is making all this money, all these billions… They’re making so much money and we’re just offering our personal lives up.”
The star, who suggested he was addicted to the site, said, “Every time we put a picture up, they own it,” he said. “So I started getting in depth and said I don’t want to put anything personal on Instagram. I put business stuff up there, but my personal stuff should be left for me.”
Justin Bieber: After being criticized for his relationship with Sofia Richie last year, The Biebs took a loooooong break from social media. He then went on a lengthy rant during one of his shows about how IG is the devil. “I don’t want to get my Instagram back,” he told the crowd. “I’m sure…I think hell is Instagram. I’m 90 percent sure. We get sent to hell, we get, like, locked in the Instagram server, like, I’m stuck in the DMs.”
Meek Mill: One year ago, rapper Meek Mill deleted his IG account, at the time, however, it was unclear why. Some said it’s because he got dragged after posting a picture holding a purse, while others say it’s because of a caption perceived as a diss directed at Nicki Minaj.
Kim Kardashian: After being robbed at gunpoint, Kim took a three month long break from Instagram. After the terrifying incident, Kardashian took a break from her fast-paced life and wanted to be more discreet while on various social platforms.
