Serena Williams made her first red carpet debut on Monday night since giving birth to her almost two-month-old daughter, Alexis Ohanian Jr.
Attending the Glamour Women of the Year soiree in New York, Williams stepped onto the red carpet looking flawless. “It’s been a while since I’ve been on the red carpet,” she on IG stories.
The mother of one, who gave birth on September 1, donned a gorgeous black and gold Versace gown. That Versace masterpiece, however, was more than a dress.
Williams, who presented model Gigi Hadid with the Supernova Award at the event, wore the gown to pay homage to Hadid, who rocked the gown during the Spring 2018 ready-to-wear collection during Milan Fashion Week.
“Gigi, you are one of the few people on this planet I would leave my baby for — for one night — but for you, it shows how much you mean to me. And I want you to imagine the effect you have on the world,” she said while presenting the award.
“Since I’ve known Gigi Hadid since she was a kid, she’s always been a woman with goals. Not only beautiful on the outside but totally stunning most importantly on the inside,” the 23-time Grand Slam champion also said during her presenter’s speech. “She understands in order to be the best you have to think like you are the best. You have to work the hardest and you have to make sacrifices.”
We can’t wait to see what Williams does for her next red carpet appearance.
