NeNe Leakes has been booted from the Xscape tour in the wake of making a repulsive rape joke.
Leakes was supposed to open for the r&b group, but after the reality star’s recent rape comment towards a heckler, the group decided to release NeNe of her duties.
“Like many, we were dismayed by the recent remarks made by our talented colleague and friend Nene Leakes. As a result, we have decided to no longer proceed with her participation on our tour,” the group said in a statement.
“It was an unfortunate incident for which Nene has since apologized and we wish her the best as she navigates this very difficult period. As strong supporters of all women, we know this decision is what is best,” the group said.
The statement concluded, “Our hearts go out to all female victims and we stand with you! This tour is for and about our fans and we want to provide an entertaining and enjoyable experience for every single person who attends.”
NeNe was performing a stand-up routine in Oakland last week when she told a female heckler she hopes she gets raped by an Uber driver on her trip back home.
After picking up some brutal backlash, the 49-year-old posted a visual on Instagram of her crying and being comforted by a friend. “I never want to cause harm to anyone else,” she said in the video.
The tears followed an official statement and apology that read: “Sometimes words can cut deep and hurt when you have no intentions of them doing so…I hope people accept my deepest and sincerest apologies.”
It’s been a tough week for NeNe, who also came under fire for telling Brielle Biermann she is “racist trash.”
