Yvette Nicole Brown is hoping to bring a little old school to her new show “The Mayor”.
Starring Brandon Michael Hall as Courtney Rose, “The Mayor” is about a rapper who tries his hand at politics after winning the election he entered in an effort to gain notoriety. In the ABC comedy, Brown plays Rose’s mother and is the driving force behind him taking his win, and new job, seriously.
While chatting with Yvette at the 2017 Emmy Awards she opened up about the type of TV mother she wants to be. “I’m trying to get my Philicia Rashad, Claire Huxtable on,” Brown told HH. “If somebody says I remind them of Claire, a ratchet Claire, but Claire, I’ll be happy.”
“The Mayor” premieres Tuesday, October 3rd on ABC.
