Girls Trip was one of the summer’s highest rated flicks, raking in a whopping $30.4 million it’s opening weekend. The movie went on to break major records, becoming the largest opening weekend performance of any live-action comedy this year.
Sure, the star studded cast (Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett, Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall) were an instant draw for movie goers around the world, but there’s no doubt the raunchiness of the film grabbed the hearts of women from every background. Specifically, the most discussed scene of the comedy: The grapefruit technique.
If you haven’t already heard, the lovely grapefruit appeared in the film as a form of sexual pleasure and we are now learning who was the brains behind the hilarious scene.
According to Jada, it was her hubby, Will Smith, who taught her the technique a decade ago. “Will was the first one to tell me about it years ago—ten years ago,” Pinkett said on Australia’s Sunrise. “‘And I was like, ‘Are you trying to tell me something?'”
It’s unclear if the married couple ever partook in the sexual act, but they certainly were aware of the wild technique. And speaking of wild, Jada recently responded to rumors, YET AGAIN, that she and Will are swingers.
“I’m like, ‘Yo, I wish!” she said on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live. “I wish.”
