It’s not a secret Carmelo Anthony wants to stay in New York, but it’s not only to continue playing for the Knicks. According to reports, the NBA star is pitching a reality show about his work as a political activist, and needs to be in a major market like L.A. or New York for the concept to make sense.

The weekly half-hour show would follow Melo discussing issues with other civic-minded celebrities and going to meetings and rallies. So far he has pitched the show to HBO and a few other cable networks, and is very serious about getting it sold.

Outside of playing basketball, Anthony has been an outspoken supporter of Black Lives Matter issues, and hosted a town hall meeting on police brutality in South Los Angeles last July.

The new show would be a far cry from his earlier foray into reality TV, his wife’s La La’s Full Court Life, which ran for five seasons on VH1. Melo and La La separated in April after it was reported that the NBA star got another woman pregnant. But neither party has filed for divorce.

“You know marriages are tough, and you know that,” she said while on the Wendy Williams Show Tuesday morning. “It’s filled with ups and downs. We are just going through a time right now.”

Melo has been very honest about wanting to reconcile with his estranged wife and get their family back together. This show could definitely help reshape his image and switch the conversation surrounding his personal life.
