Usher was set to perform during Sunday night’s Manchester benefit concert in England, but the star ended up being a no show. So what exactly happened?
The “Nice & Slow” singer took to Instagram on Monday morning to explain to his disappointed fans why he was unable to make the show, which, by the way, was in efforts to raise money for the victims and their families affected by last month’s Manchester bombing.
Sharing an image of the concert, the father of two wrote: “So happy to see that last night’s concert in Manchester proved that love always prevails. I would have loved to be there but It was my son’s first day at Camp Kudzu, one of the few summer camps for kids living with diabetes. This was an important day for him and for myself as a proud father. Stay strong UK.”
Usher’s comment, however, came on the heels of a dozens of anxious, curious and angry fans who blasted the star for ditching the concert.
One Love Manchester, which was in the wake of the May 22 Manchester Arena bombing, wound up raising a whopping $9 million for the British Red Cross. Other performers included Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Coldplay.
