After a seven year hiatus, LeToya Luckett is getting Back To Life … literally, with her long awaited new album, which debuted at number 1 on the R&B charts.

To accompany the album Luckett put her acting chops to use with two steamy music videos for the singles Used To and Back 2 Life featuring actor Thomas Q. Jones.

HipHollywood sat down with the Grammy Award-winning singer about the dramatic love triangle storyline, and the pairs undeniable on-screen chemistry.

“I was kind of going back and forth with different concepts when I came up with the idea for the mini-series,” she explained.  “I wanted it to be an actual situation that I had gone through, but there were so many situations that I couldn’t make up my mind, so finally I settled on the friend who is really not a friend, or you have that gut feeling ain’t really the friend he saying she is.”

In the first video, Back 2 Life, things are hot and heavy between she and Jones until he introduces her to his “best-friend.”

“I’m loving the conversation that is bubbling up around this whole mini-series because apparently a lot of people have been through this situation. Turns out I’m not the only one,” she laughs. “But its fun.”

For the follow-up, the up-tempo Used To,  Luckett says wanted women to feel empowered and inspired.  “It shows the ‘bounce back’ from the disappointment of a relationship gone wrong, but it also showcases the vulnerability of a woman who allowed herself to Love. ”

Luckett says she plans to put out a third visual to complete the story, but in the meantime fans can catch her on Greenleaf on OWN, playing Dionne Warwick in the upcoming biopic Dionne, and USA’s upcoming drama series Unsolved, about the murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
