Remy Ma might have ongoing beef with rapper Nicki Minaj, but despite the pair’s ongoing public feuds, Ma still stands for one thing: Camaraderie.
Earlier this month Remy paid homage to her fellow female emcees (Queen Latifah, Rah Digga, The Lady of Rage, Monie Love. MC Lyte) who paved the way for her by bringing them out during her set at Summer jam.
That very moment, which went viral, also led to the New York native being honored by MC Lyte and her foundation, The Hip Hop Sisters.
On Friday night, the 501c3 non-profit foundation, which provides national and international support to women, men and youth around the globe, praised their newest Board Member and Brand Ambassador for helping keep camaraderie alive.
According to MC Lyte, there is a reason why camaraderie just isn’t how it was in the 90’s. “So much money is being made and some many people are far, so many miles between everyone. You have to just make the time, you have to be purposeful in saying let’s get together,” Lyte told us excessively while discussing fellowship in music amongst female rappers.
She further praised Ma for, “calling all of us to say ‘come on we gonna go to the summer stage’ and let them see that camaraderie exists.”
