Jay Pharoah has virtually stayed silent on his Saturday Night Live departure, but his new comments seem to explain everything perfectly.
Jay was let go from SNL last August and since then, folks have been wondering what the heck happened. Finally, Pharoah is answering that question. During an interview with Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning, the comedian stated, “If you have multiple people on the cast saying things like ‘you’re so talented, you’re so able, they don’t use you and it’s unfair and it’s making us feel bad,’” Jay revealed. “They put people into boxes. Whatever they want you to do, they expect you to do,” he added. “I’m a little fiery too… I’m not a yes n***a.” The funnyman also told a story of how he almost git fired even sooner for speaking out on the lack of Black female cast members. He was definitely taking one for the team!
Pharoah, who was known for his spot-on impersonations of President Barack Obama, Jay Z, Ben Carson and more, may have lost one plum gig, but he has already scored another. Jay landed the lead role in White Famous, the comedy based on Jamie Foxx’s personal experiences coming up in the business. The show is set to air on Showtime.
