A handful of A-list stars and comedians came together on Wednesday evening to say their final goodbyes to the late Charlie Murphy.
Murphy was laid to rest in New Jersey and among some of the attendees paying their respects included Cedric the Entertainer, DL Hughley, Dave Chappelle and Affion Crockett.
Cedric posted a photo on social media of him standing alongside his fellow comedians with the caption: “Tonite we joined Family n Friends to pay tribute and lay to rest our brother the Legendary #charliemurphy.”
Hughley also shared a snapshot from the funeral with the caption: “Remembering Charlie Murphy #TeamDl.”
Murphy, most known for his roles on CB4 and Chappelle’s Show, died last week at a NYC hospital following a very private battle with leukemia. The older brother of actor Eddie Murphy was 57.
Following the passing of the late comedian, Eddie and his family released a statement that read:
“Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle, and friend Charlie. Charlie filled our family with love and laughter, and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”
