Cuba Gooding Sr., father of Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and the lead singer of The Main Ingredient, was found dead in his car Thursday afternoon. Police responded to a call that a unresponsive man was found in a car on Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills, Calif., a little after noon pacific.
According to reports, there was alcohol in Gooding Sr.’s Jaguar. but the cause of death has yet to be determined.
Gooding was the lead singer of the 70’s soul trio The Main Ingredient whose big hit was the classic “Everybody Plays The Fool.”
They also had a major-selling hit in 1974 with “I Just Don’t Wanna Be Lonely.”
Cuba Gooding Sr. was 72.
