Tamron Hall has announced that she is leaving NBC and MSNBC, but it may not be as amicable as it seems. HipHollywood has learned that Hall was not happy about the network hiring Megan Kelly and axing her hour-long show Today’s Takes with Al Roker.
According to a source, Hall was so furious she turned down a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal to stay at the Today show.
Apparently, the relationship soured when NBC announced that it would be canceling her top-rated morning show to make room for Kelly. Sources say Hall found out she was being ousted minutes before she went on air last Friday, and she was in tears. “She was devastated to get the news. It was almost an Ann Curry moment live again on TV. It was surreal,” another insider told Page Six.
Her last day on both networks was Tuesday. Her contract with NBC News expires this month. “The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful,” Hall said in a statement. “I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you.”
NBC also released a statement praising Hall and her contributions to the network. “Tamron is an exceptional journalist, we valued and enjoyed her work at Today and MSNBC and hoped that she would decide to stay,” NBC News said in a statement. “We are disappointed that she has chosen to leave, but we wish her all the best.”
Hall will continue to host Deadline: Crime on Investigation Discovery … and we have a feeling something major is on the horizon for her over at OWN.
If it does, remember we told you first!
