Common isn’t here for President Orange Trump and his threats to bring the feds into his hometown of Chicago.
TMZ caught up with the Chi-Town native as he made his way out of LAX and he had this to say. “To help Chicago we have to take care of our own. Within the community there are already alot of people out there organizing and doing a lot of things. We need our state and local people to do things we don’t need that mentality.”
On Wednesday morning Trump tweeted: “If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible “carnage” going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!”
For the record, what Trump would be doing is enforcing Marshall law on the city. Common says he’s not interested in trying to work with him, but with the citizens of Chicago.
“I’m not focused on the President right now. I’m focusing on the people in the city. My message is for the people of Chicago. I’m not thinking about the president. We’re going to work with in state and local and go grassroots. That’s how we are going to do it.”
