Thirty-one-year-old Paul Lubin can thank his addiction to social media for his current incarceration. The Florida man was apprehended by the FBI for allegedly robbing seven banks in New York over the past three months.
Lubin was foolish enough to post an image of himself on Instagram wearing the same shirt he’s accused of robbing a bank in. It’s that unwise decision that led authorities to his doorstep. It was also probably a bad idea to take the picture next to a massive pile of cash.
Lubin allegedly passed notes to tellers during some of his escapades, writing, “I am heavily armed. DO NOT DO anything stupid. Put $5,000 in one envelope. DO NOT PISS ME OFF! Everyone’s SAFETY depends all on you.”
In all, he made off with about $25,000 in cash before finally getting busted. Lubin is also suspected of robbing six banks in Florida from 2004 to 2013. Considering the amount of success he’s had with robbing banks, he’s awfully stupid to have been caught the way he was. Folks on Instagram were quick to remind him of this in his comments, although we doubt he’ll ever see his IG page again.
“u big dummy,” one person wrote. “His dumbass forgot the shirt he was wearing was the same shirt he robbed the bank with lmao,” another added. “Bra you beat y’all self in this situation” a final commentator remarked.
