Kim Kardashian appeared on 60 Minutes on Sunday night and discussed advertising and basically making millions off social media. Given the reason for the interview, however, Kim made a few comments that probably will make you smirk or raise an eyebrow or two.
It’s worth noting that the sit-down, conducted by Bill Whitaker, was pre Paris robbery — so the reality star’s idea of fame and publicly living her life on social media is probably wildly different now.
As previously reported, Kim has not posted anything on social media since being bound, gagged, locked inside her Paris apartment bathroom and robbed of nearly $10 million.
Here are three things we learned from Kim’s special.
Social Media Contributing To Her Level Of Celebrity: “I totally attribute my career to social media,” the mother of two said. Kim currently has staggering 85.8 million followers on Instagram and 48.6 million on Twitter.
Pros Outweigh The Cons: “I do believe that the pros in my situation and my lifestyle have been more beneficial than the negative things,” Kim suggested.
Argues Her Brand Is Her Talent: Kim’s career skyrocketed after the release of her sex tape with Ray J, and then the major success of her family’s reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Many might argue that Kim doesn’t have “talent,” but the mother of two might disagree. “It is a talent to have a brand that’s really successful off of getting people to like you for you,” the 36-year-old suggested. “I would think that has to involve some kind of talent, you know?”
