Reports have been flying around that Oprah Winfrey and longtime boyfriend, Stedman Graham, would be tying the knot, but Oprah wants everyone to know — it’s not happening. Sorry, folks.
Recent tabloid reports suggested that the couple would be getting hitched after 30 years of dating; in fact, even Winfrey’s closest friends thought that it was true.
Over the weekend, the media mogul shut down the gossip with a simple tweet that read: “6 people who know me well have called today congratulating me or surprised they weren’t invited to my wedding. IT’ s NOT TRUE!!”
Folks have long hoped for Oprah and Stedman to make it down the aisle, but maybe it’s time to let go of the dream.
Winfrey has made it very clear in the past that she has no desire to say, “I do.” During an episode of SuperSoul Sunday last year, Oprah revealed to Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes, “The moment he asked me to marry him, I was like, ‘Oh, God! Now I actually have to get married?'” she recalled, saying that her and Stedman agreed to postpone their wedding and then never spoke of it again. “But what I realized is, I don’t want to be married.”
She concluded, “Because I could not have the life that I created for myself. I couldn’t do it.”
